What is the difference between ddr3l 1600 and ddr3l 1866?
If you are comparing DDR3-1600 CL9 with DDR3-1866 CL10 then there is no real difference.
You will need 1866 modules with latency the same, or lower, than the 1600 modules you want to compare to in order to say it is “faster”.
Keep voltage in mind also.
At 1600 or 1866 frequencies you don’t see many that are above 1.5v..
What does cl10 mean RAM?
2 points · 6 years ago. CL = CAS Latency. Basically it’s the delay between when the RAM is told to do something, and when it actually happens. (super watered down version). All you need to be worried about is that the lower the CL, the better.
Which RAM is faster 1333 or 1600?
2 Answers. The 1600Mhz CL10 RAM has a higher clock speed (800MHz versus 666MHz) and a lower latency (12.5 ns versus 13.5 ns), so it’s the hands down winner. So, even though CL10 is a higher divisor than CL9, the increase from 1333MHz to 1600MHz in the numerator is more than enough to compensate for that.
Which is faster cl9 or cl11?
Out of the box, I installed the Crucial (CL11) RAM and did the iMac startup. … Thus, the CL9 ram was 1% faster memory performance, and 2.6% faster stream performance.
Can I mix cl9 and cl11 RAM?
Generally yes but it will only run as fast as the slowest ram. …
Is 1600MHz ram slow?
The 1600MHz ram is faster, no matter the size. But it is probably not a good idea to buy it if you can only afford one or the other. The 1600MHz ram is faster, no matter the size. But it is probably not a good idea to buy it if you can only afford one or the other.
What is the difference between 1600 and 1866 Ram?
The 1866 RAM is about 16.5% faster than the 1600 RAM – so the choice is a no-brainer. But wait, at CL10 vs CL9 the 1866 RAM is 12% slower than the 1600 RAM. This means that you are paying quite a bit more for a a measly 4.5% performance gain.
Can I mix 1600 and 1866 Ram?
Mixing RAM sticks of different timings may or may not work. … The only thing is that the 1866 ram will be downlclocked to 1600 since effective speed is defined by the slowest performing hardware.
Can I use 1333mHz and 1600MHz RAM together?
Yes, you can mix 1333 and 1600 MHz RAM sticks, however the system will downclock all RAM to the speed of the slowest stick. For best performance, try and buy RAM that is the same speed or faster.
Does RAM speed really matter?
Your RAM’s speed does not alter how fast your CPU goes, even when overclocked or hyper-threaded, but it can slow the CPU down depending on if your RAM is full or not. … RAM speed comes down to how much data is transferred at a given time, and much of that can be determined by the number of your RAM module.
Is 1600 MHz memory speed good?
In general it is good enough and it actually is the fastest kind of memory supported on locked Intel motherboards before socket 1151. Though if you have a Z87/Z97 motherboard and unlocked K cpu, then getting memory faster than 1600MHz can be beneficial.
What does ddr3 1866 mean?
It means its DDR3 1866 MHZ RAM. Its just a designation used by the DDR standard to easily categorize between DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 RAM and there different operating speeds. DDR means Double Data Rate. So DDR is 2x 1866 = 3732 . DDR2 is then 2×3732=7464 and taht times 2 is then just over 14900.
